making plans for my next newsletter

Would you rather get a text or an email?

Hi Darlings, Hope you’re all having a good week and fighting the good fight. I’m in the middle of a year long postgraduate course (as a student) and vacillating wildly between

(a) OMG this is wonderful, I love learning, I’m gaining so many new skills and perspectives

and (b) WHAT WAS I THINKING, I know nothing plus I have no time, why did I decide to do this course while prepping for a book launch?

So, like many big feelings, that’s fun and definitely doesn’t lead to hiding under the covers at 8 PM to submerge myself into the fantasy world of my favorite new author1.

But my time panic is none of your concern, here’s my question for you. I’m prepping to update my newsletter and I’ve been thinking a lot about who I’m writing to (you!) and what works best in our lives.

Many of us are time poor and sick of being on screens. And our email inboxes are fullllllllll. So does an email list continue to make sense? I’m not sure. Lots of us consume content when we’re driving, walking, or doing house hold chores. I see and respond to texts more quickly - especially if they small bites (not long essays!).

So it made me wonder whether email continues to be the best way to stay in contact with you. What do you think? Please complete the poll above or just reply to this email, I’d love your thoughts.

xx Kerry

  1. Robin Hobb!! Have you read her? I am on the second book in the Farseer trilogy and regularly can’t go to bed at a normal time because the queen is in danger (or other such fun).
